JOPLIN, Missouri, June 14, 2011 – Spared from the tornado that ripped through Joplin last month, Frank Fletcher Ford is coming together with Ford Motor Company and local Ford employees to offer support. The Joplin tornado destroyed two of six dealerships in the Fletcher Auto Group but has not claimed their spirit of hope.
"We want to do what we can to help our family, friends and neighbors get their lives back," said Roger Williams, General Manager of Frank Fletcher Ford. "With so many homes and businesses lost, the people of Joplin need all the support they can get."
Shortly after the disaster, the Ford Motor Company Fund made a donation of $50,000 to Feeding America to assist with hunger relief efforts in the community of Joplin. Feeding America aids disaster relief and recovery by distributing food and grocery products through a network of more than 200 food banks that serve 61,000 local charitable agencies.
Local Ford employees have also taken action by raising money to assist wit goverment technology h relief efforts in Joplin. Em first drive audi a6 ployees at the Ford Kansas City Assembly Plant working through the UAW Local 249, raised $7,700 in a matter of days. The plant has also arranged for groups of employees to help with clean up efforts on a bi-monthly basis.
"I'm very proud of our team in Kansas City for stepping up to support the people of Joplin in this time of need," said Jeff Wright, President of UAW Local 249.
Local Ford offices also pitched in $3,000 worth of cash and goods and personally delivered their donation to Frank Fletcher Ford last week.
"Like many others, we felt compelled to help our neighbors affected by the recent tornado in Joplin," said Kevin Klossner, Ford Kansas City regional manager. "With so much widespread devastation in Joplin, every little bit is going to make a difference."
Ford also is offering a disaster relief cash bonus to the people in Jasper and Newton counties who were affected by the storm. Residents who had their vehicles damaged or lost from tornado damage qualify for $500 in bonus cash toward the purchase of a new Ford car or truck.
